Jon Stewart paints a beautiful picture of the what, why, when, and how of making change to our present economic system. Enjoy reading Jon's thrilling story about a very dull subject.
I love what you’re doing to help people empower themselves and their local communities. As much as large, famous companies, America has always been built and thrived upon community support for local businesses and farms.
Love all these actionable steps to take! It’s true that small steps will get us where we need to go and are less overwhelming than huge changes!
I’ve always known that shopping locally instead of at big companies is important, but lately I’ve seen just how large corporations actively lobby against us and I have minimized my spending at those by cancelling Amazon, boycotting Target, etc. but I hadn’t thought about my bank! I will look into a credit union.
I also attended a talk by The Financial Diet about “ethical” investments and knowing what your 401k is funding. It could be funding oil or weapons and now I’m curious about that as well.
You're very welcome! I think many, many people have always known this. These things are kind of intuitive. And now we have the technology to make ethical choices so much easier and people who are more committed than ever to doing it.
It's lovely to see -- I'm curious about those 401ks as well. Cancel This Clothing made an add for finding out if a product is ethical by scanning the bar code. I wonder if resources won't be made for this too!
Absolutely and the more we share these resources, the more likely folks are to make the switch!
My 401k is the most money I have anywhere, so it’s very important to me where it goes. I’m working on figuring that out now. There’s a lot of gatekeeping in finance and it’s intentional to keep us in the dark about where our money is going.
Thank you for sharing the Cancel This Clothing resource! I’ll check that out. I mostly buy secondhand or get clothes for free from clothing swaps, but I’ll use that with any new clothes I’m thinking about buying!

Haha that opening line! Solutions are so much more simple than we think. We like to overcomplicate things as humans don’t we :)

Yes exactly. It looks like we are about to see a convergence of those two things ❤️
How do I get listed on the Wellbeing App? I’m a community acupuncturist in San Diego County.
I think the best bet would be to reach out to @LaVonne Ellis who is building the city-by-city directory!
